Some On-Line Boardgames for Your Enjoyment
Following are links to some on-line versions of games
that I own. Many of these sites are very useful in getting
you 'up to speed' on these games so that you'll have
a more enjoyable experience when you get the opportunity
to play in person.
Euro-Games
-
Sumo Sumo is a variant of En Garde. While not nearly as good a game
(sumo tends to favor low cards), it is nonetheless fun and a merry little
time waster. I can't directly link to the shockwave file, so you'll
have to actually click on the icon. Oh woe is you.
-
Streetsoccer
Here is the computer version of Streetsoccer. YourTurnMyTurn also
allows you to play against human opponents.
-
Hive
Hive is one of the strangest little two-player games that I have
encountered. You'll pretty much have to try out this computer
version before you try the real game or you will have no clue
whatsoever as to what in the heck you are supposed to do.
Classic Games
-
Abalone
Though relatively young, this can easily be considered
a modern classic. Based on the sport of Sumo wrestling,
the idea is to push the marbles of your opponent off of
the board.
-
Tablut
Ancient Viking game
-
Mancala
The ancient African stone game.
-
Nine Men's Morris
Related to tic-tac-toe but more playable.
