Bugfest 2004 uses the following rules:
  • Warhammer 40,000 - 4th edition
  • Preliminary Bombardment (bugs only)
  • Concealment
  • Dusk and Dawn
  • Infiltrate
  • Tyranid Monstrosities
  • Troops can recycle if your entire army is wiped out

Objective #1 Imperial - Take back the sewers
The bugs have infested the sewers and may Sewerstrike (deepstrike) behind the Imperials lines. The Imperials have sent a counter offensive to destroy the main Imperial waste station and flood the sewers. All troops attacking the sewers are armed with explosives that must be placed on the sewer flood gates. Any model in base contact with the flood gates for one full turn detonates the sewer gates thus flooding the sewers.

If gates are blown up all models still in reserve must come in from their board edge or via Mycetic Spore (normal Deep Strike).

Objective #2 Imperial - Protect the Listening Station! Tyranid Mycetic Spores have taken out most of the Imperial listening posts - without which the ships in orbit cannot receive information from the surface. On any turn that the Imperial forces do not hold the Listening Post, Imperial units Deep Striking in drift +1D6 (yes - a hit will drift 1D6).

Objective #3 Bugs - Destroy the Power grid! The power reactor gives a 3+ inv save to the walls against shooting and assaulting attacks. The hive mind know that if the grid can be destroyed not only will the 3+inv save be gone for the walls but the insuing power surge will wound anyone on the walls on a roll of 6. They do get their normal armor save however. Their is also a possibility that the walls themselves may become damaged and compromised with such a surge. On a 4+ all walls are -1 to their AP.

Objective #4 Bugs - Breach the walls! Bugs must Breach the Imperial walls to the compound in 3 places. That means the wall is destroyed and bugs are breaking through. The Hive mind knows that if this outpost falls the planet is theirs. This is also the only area that the Tyranid Monstrosities can attack.

Objective #5 Bugs - Take out the big guns! (side table) The Imperials have 3 'big bertha' guns dropping massive shells upon the bug lines. The Tyranid forces must assault the guns and silence them forever. [Imperial Allies may play on this table]

Objective #6 Imperial - Close the Warpgates! (side table) Foul Chaos forces, seeing an Imperial weakness, have 3 gates warping massive explosive charges into the city. Imperial forces must assault the warpgates and stop the unholy barrage. [Imperial Allies may play on this table]

SPECIAL RULES

Sewerstrike: Tyranid Troop units may enter the city via the sewers beginning turn 2. The unit is placed per the Deep Strike rules, but may assault on the turn it enters. Units assaulting on the turn they enter the city do not receive their charge bonus.

Recycling: As we are all bringing just 1,000 pts worth of toys you will be able to recycle a portion of your army after your entire army is destroyed.
Any Elite, Troop or Fast Attack unit that is not a Vehicle (or a Wraithlord/Talos) may be recycled. Recycled Bug units may enter via their board edge; via Mycetic Spore; or via Sewerstrike (Troops only). Imperial units may only enter via Deep Strike. After the entire army is destroyed, any destroyed unit may re-enter the table on a roll of 4+.

Big Guns / Warp Bombs: S-10 AP-2 Ordinance Blast. Inaccurate - Place large blast marker and roll scatter die. Misses deviate 4D6. Hits deviate 2D6.
Big Guns / Warp Bombs may be used as long as they are not solely occupied by enemy forces - and may be re-occupied by friendly forces on subsequent turns!

Force Org: Standard Force Organization max limits apply (i.e., no more than 3 Elites; no more than 2 HQs; etc.) but there are no min limits (i.e., 1 HQ, 2 Troops). Bring it on!

Since I am a hobby kind of guy I thought I would hold a Coolest Conversion Contest. There will be a winner on each side (store credit). The model must be a conversion of some type (not just a stock model painted up nicely) It must be a GW model or at least be sculpted to look like a GW model. It doesn't have to be the best painted model thus the name Coolest Conversion Contest. Also the model doesn't necessarily have to be one that you are using in bug fest. I just want to see the best of what everybody has to bring. So if you have something you think is cool or you just want to show off, BRING IT!
